He became a pupil of shigemasa Sakaiikansai(swordsmith) in 1971. He was 22 years old at the time.
He trained very hard. He learned sculpture of blade. It's tough, but he never thought the training is too hard.
He became a swordsmith of the Agency for Cultural Affairs authorization in 1977.Then, he started to call him 繁久(Shigehisa). 繁 means a honor of 一寛斎.
He was awarded his first prize at 新作名刀展, then received 努力賞(t he effort award).
「地金(Jigane) is the essence of Japanese sword」
This is his word. He pursues Tamahagane as material of Japanese sword.
The blade is Tamahagane. The shape is Hirazukuri. The Jihada is Itame. they mean the proof as great master.
The handle is beautiful with rattan lacquered(urushi). It is deep amber-color.
A well balanced knife, “Katayamajiri”!!
